Director, Procurement - Etobicoke

What we offer

The Director of Procurement will be responsible for developing, leading and operating the organization’s supply chain function for all business units within SAMI, with a particular focus on purchasing and procurement. What you’ll do

  • Establish a cohesive strategic roadmap across the supply chain function from the ground up, including structure, processes, and Standard Operating Procedures; establish clear goals, metrics, and action plans in alignment with organizational strategy and objectives
  • Lead all relevant initiatives, maximizing value from external partnerships for and across all business units
  • Identify, approach, and negotiate partnerships directly with the product source; develop strategies to bypass intermediaries and distributors, to get the best price possible for all input materials
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, operations, and reporting for all procurement activities; oversee processes to ensure timely delivery of goods and services
  • Identify and recommend solutions to business challenges; manage vendor relationships proactively with a focus on cost management, risk mitigation, seamless business continuity, and quality of deliverables
  • Oversee the selection and approval process for new vendors, ensuring they meet organizational standards and requirements; facilitate effective contract management, including a structured approach to competitive bidding and supplier selection, contract approval, vetting, and execution
  • Implement robust document control and monitoring of supplier agreement expirations, terminations, or renewals
  • Develop and administer detailed analytics to support informed decision-making
  • Identify opportunities for cost-savings and process improvements; monitor market trends and industry best practices to enhance procurement operations
  • Leverage technology to streamline supply chain operations and enhance efficiency; drive initiatives for automation, sustainability, and innovation

What you bring:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and/or MBA in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
  • 10+ years of comprehensive experience in the areas of supply chain, and procurement, and/or a combination of other experience including, but not limited to, contract negotiation, pricing, cost management, supplier management, and material planning
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience, including departmental management and budgetary responsibility
  • Proven experience in establishing and enhancing a cohesive strategy across the supply chain to optimize efficiency and drive cost savings
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, relationship-building, and decision-making skills
  • Analytical aptitude for understanding key cost drivers and interpreting financial data to provide actionable business recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Excellent project management skills with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
  • Significant technical aptitude, including in the use of technology to automate procurement, supply chain, and logistics processes

Head of Finance - Etobicoke

    What we offer

    The Head of Finance is a highly skilled and strategic individual that will be responsible for leading all elements of the finance function, reporting directly to the General Manager. The successful individual will be getting into the weeds on all financial elements required for our start-up to succeed, including, but not limited to, developing annual financial plans and budgets, financial modelling, forecasting performance, setting up financial processes and systems, and conducting analysis to support decision-making and identifying areas for improvement. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the General Manager and Mattamy Asset Management’s Finance team on the establishment of a strong and healthy finance function for the new business. The ideal candidate is inquisitive and detail-oriented, has experience in manufacturing environments, and has a strong background in cost accounting, financial accounting, and FP&A.

    What you’ll do

    • Lead the company’s long term Financial Planning, annual budget cycle, monthly reporting and cashflow forecasting process as well as stress testing assumptions while working directly with all business segments to produce high quality plans
    • Prepare dynamic financial models, reports, and presentations to support data-driven recommendations, including performing business case and trade-off analysis related to new business initiatives, manufacturing costs, inventory, and other expenses
    • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs. Analyze actual production costs and prepare periodic reports comparing projected to actual production costs
    • Develop, implement, and maintain the chart of accounts and master data hierarchies in alignment with Mattamy Asset Management
    • Develop, implement, and maintain accurate costing methodology
    • Foster strong working relationships across all business segments, and successfully develop direct reports
    • Assist with the creation of KPI’s that SAMI can leverage for better budgeting and forecasting; creation of corresponding dashboards for key KPI’s for department heads, finance, and other decision makers
    • Analyze and identify trends in key performance drivers and oversee monthly variance analysis processes, including communication with corporate stakeholders and follow-ups with division owners
    • Full accounting ownership, with particular focus on month-end close activities related to cost accounting, including but not limited to department expense variances (actual to budgets/forecasts), monthly revenues and associated gross margin analysis while focusing on tools and training to make the process more efficient
    • In collaboration with MAM Finance leaders, advise on technical accounting matters and the implementation of policy change divisionally and company-wide. Advise on accounting and system impacts of new operations, legal entity restructuring, or complex accounting issues
    • Responsible for oversight of bank compliance reporting in conjunction with the MAM Treasury group.
    • Support the General Manager and Director of Supply Chain with the Procure-to-Pay process.
    • Provide support and/or lead special/strategic projects
    • Other duties as required

    What you bring

    • University Degree, with a specialization in Finance or Accounting
    • CPA Designation
    • 8+ years of experience with increasing responsibility, including 2+ years of people leadership
    • Strong background in cost accounting, financial modelling and planning, with a track record and orientation towards continuous improvement
    • Strong understanding of cash flow forecasting, ability to create cash flow models that incorporate intelligent forecasting methodologies including identifying drivers in the operations to improve cash and capital returns
    • Strong customer focus with excellent relationship building and a collaborative working style
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
    • Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and mentor a team while fostering a positive and inclusive culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement

      Manager, Outbound Logistics Strategy (Contract)

        The Manager, Outbound Logistics Strategy will be responsible for developing a comprehensive end-to-end logistics strategy for the outbound movement of finished goods produced by all business units at our manufacturing facility, and where necessary, internal factory logistics as they relate to outbound flow. This strategy will directly support scaling our innovative manufacturing business efficiently and competitively. The ideal candidate will have a background in engineering, shipping and transportation, supply chain management, and logistics strategy.

        What you’ll do

        • Develop an integrated outbound logistics strategy for all products — modular units, building components (e.g., floor and wall panels), and cabinetry/millwork — based on their specific handling, protection, and transport needs.
        • Evaluate transportation options (in-house vs third-party) for each product type and recommend preferred approaches.
        • Complete detailed business cases comparing transportation modes (e.g., flatbeds, box trucks), factoring in capital and operating costs, scalability, reliability, flexibility, and site constraints.
        • Specify loading equipment and vehicle types for each product category (e.g., enclosed trucks for cabinetry, open trailers for panels and modules).
        • Define end-to-end movement procedures from factory loading to final onsite placement, including required equipment and protection measures.
        • Recommend packaging, staging, and loading methods for each product type, with special attention to cabinetry protection and later-stage delivery needs.
        • Assess and recommend internal factory requirements to support outbound logistics, including module sizing, door and clearance dimensions, staging layouts, and loading bay configurations.
        • Develop detailed delivery sequencing plans to ensure efficient jobsite logistics and minimize onsite storage or handling.
        • Optimize internal material flow leading to outbound shipping, ensuring efficient transition from production to transport loading.
        • Recommend internal handling and loading procedures to reduce product handling time, minimize damage risk, and match outbound loading methods.
        • Coordinate between different product flows inside the plant to align with outbound transport scheduling and delivery sequencing.

        • Significant technical aptitude, including in the use of technology to automate logistics processes.
        • High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
